Kobe Bryant was one of the most beloved basketball players of all-time. Unfortunately, he and his daughter Gianna tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26th. Today, a memorial was held at the Staples Center where thousands came out to pay respects. The Staples Center was packed with friends, family, celebrities, and fans. It was a beautiful service that saw some tributes from Vanessa Bryant and many others.
To start off the event, Beyoncé got on stage to deliver gorgeous renditions of "XO" and "Halo." Beyoncé's performance was very powerful and resonated with every single person in that building. Many throughout the crowd were moved to tears as they began thinking about the legacy Kobe and Gianna have left us with.
Ever since their tragic passing, numerous tributes have poured in from all over the world. The Los Angeles Lakers had their very own ceremony prior to their first game after the accident. As the NBA season goes on, we can expect to see even more tributes, especially with the playoffs just around the corner.
Our thoughts are with the families of those affected by the accident. This can't be an easy time and everyone has shown a ton of strength. It's commendable, to say the least.
Snoop Dogg Offers High Praise For Jaden Smith
Snoop Dogg calls Jaden Smith a “young tycoon” following his appearance on “Red Table Talk” with Jada Pinkett Smith.
It was announced last week that Snoop Dogg would be hitting Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith to discuss his controversial comments about Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey, and during his time at the Smith residence, he seemingly got to chop it up with Jaden Smith, who clearly left a strong first impression the West Coast legend.
Snoop Dogg spoke about his comments toward Gayle King on RTT, where he tore the media personality apart for asking Lisa Leslie a question about Kobe Bryant’s legacy shortly after the basketball legend had passed away. As he got closer to Jada, Will Smith, and the kids, the Doggfather took a liking to Jaden Smith, who dropped knowledge on the rapper and explained all of his revolutionary ideas.

Already, we’ve seen Jaden get involved in the water filtration game, creating a system that will provide clean drinking water to Flint, Michigan. On top of that, he’s got other ideas to save the world and Snoop Dogg is all for them. Hailing the 21-year-old as a “young tycoon,” Snoop posted a picture with the ERYS singer to his social pages.
Do you think Jaden Smith will end up being as influential as his father, or anybody else in his family? He’s definitely on the right track.
Pete Davidson Foresaw Breakup With Ariana Grande After Mac Miller Died
Pete Davidson sat down with Charlamagne Tha God to promote his new stand-up special.
While Pete Davidson doesn’t usually do much press, he has a stand-up comedy special premiering on Netflix this week (Feb. 25), so he sat down with Charlamagne tha God for a 50-minute chat. The discussion touched on the special, Alive From New York, and his other recent projects, like Big Time Adolescence and The King Of Staten Island. They also spoke about the other things that attract media attention to Pete Davidson, like his romantic relationships and his mental health.
Around the 25-minute mark, Charlamagne asks Davidson what it was like to be dating Ariana Grande at the time she learned of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller‘s passing. Specifically, the radio host wondered how Davidson felt about Grande publicly grieving this loss and expressing her deep love for Mac. “I totally got it cause we were only together for a few – she would even tell you this – I was like, ‘listen, I get it. Do what you gotta do. I’ll be here,” he recalled. “I think I said, like, ‘I’ll be here until you don’t want me to be here.’ I pretty much knew it was over around after that. That was really horrible and I can’t imagine what that shit is like. That shit is just terrible. All I do know is that she really loved the shit out of him and she wasn’t putting on a show or anything. That was fucked up and prayers to his family and all of his friends, still. It’s still fucking everybody up.”

In the interview, Davidson also addressed how he feels he needs the freedom to bring up his relationship with Grande – and whatever else happens in his life – in his stand-up. “I think genuinely being hurtful is off-limits or anything like being shitty or anything,” he said. “I wanna be cool with everybody but, you know, stand-up’s part of my life. That was a highly publicized thing. I feel like she got her fair run and her fair stab at it, and like I said, I don’t have social media and I don’t have an outlet really to express my feelings so stand-up’s just how i do it.”

Shaq Tells Hilarious Kobe Bryant Story During Staples Center Memorial
Kobe Bryant always had an intense competitive spirit about him.
Kobe Bryant's passing is something that many people have yet to come to terms with. It's hard to put into words just how much he meant to not just the basketball community but the world as a whole. What makes his death more shocking, is that it was alongside his 13-year-old daughter and seven other people. Their lives were lost way too soon and it's hard to fathom how the families are coping right now. Today, a memorial for Kobe and Gianna was held at the Staples Center and it featured some touching tributes.
Near the end of the event, Kobe's former teammate, Shaq, got up on stage to tell some stories about their time playing together. Shaq told a particularly hilarious story in which he had to confront Kobe for not passing. When Shaq said "there is no I in team," Kobe clapped back and said, "I know but there's a 'M-E' in that motha fucka."
The camera panned to various people in the crowd and they were all laughing hysterically at what Shaq had just said. Shaq's story resonated with the crowd because it spoke to just how competitive Kobe was. Everyone knows Kobe was a competitive guy and the story strengthened that notion further.
In a time where everyone is sad, it was good to see Shaq make people laugh. Kobe brought a lot of people joy and today was a celebration of that.
Michael Jordan References Crying Meme In Tearful Kobe Tribute
Michael Jordan delivers perfectly timed "Crying Jordan" meme reference during his tearful speech about Kobe Bryant.
Michael Jordan was among the many NBA legends past and present who gathered at Staples Center on Monday to celebrate the lives of Kobe and Gianna Bryant. As part of today's memorial service, Jordan also delivered an emotional, tear-jerking speech complete with a perfectly timed moment of comedic relief.
As seen in the video clip embedded below, Jordan drew a much-needed laugh from the crowd as he made reference to the viral "Crying Jordan" meme while wiping away his tears on stage in front of 20,000+ people.
Elsewhere during his time on the mic, Jordan recalled some of his fondest memories of Kobe, including the time he ran into the Black Mamba while going to visit Phil Jackson in Los Angeles nearly two decades ago.
“I’m in a suit, and the first thing Kobe said was, ‘Did you bring your shoes?’” Jordan recalled (H/T New York Daily News). “That’s what I loved about the kid, absolutely loved about the kid. No matter where he saw me, it was a challenge."
“I admired him because of his passion," Jordan added. “You rarely see someone who’s looking and trying to improve each and every day. Not just in sports but as a parent, as a husband. I am inspired by what he’s done and what he shared with Vanessa and with his kids.”
MJ, who described Kobe as a little brother, added, “When Kobe Bryant died, a piece of me died. Please rest in peace little brother.” You can watch footage of his speech in the tweet embedded below.
Russ Says Boi-1da & Scott Storch Are Top Five
Russ takes a moment to appreciate some of hip-hop's unsung heroes, hitmaker extraordinaire Boi-1da and piano slayer Scott Storch.
Russ recently came through and showed some major love to two of his favorite producers of all time: Canadian producer Boi-1da and the piano slayer himself, Scott Storch. Hip-hop is a musical genre where ranking is no simple habit - it's a way of life. Lists ranging from top-50 to the highly personal and oft-discussed top 10 have become commonplace, with many using a specified window to express their appreciation of a particular rapper's craft. For Russ, who seems to be in the midst of a serious hot streak, it was high time to celebrate a few of hip-hop's unsung heroes.

"Boi1da is in my top 5 producers of all time I got two plaques with him," writes Russ, taking to Twitter to honor his collaborators. "Scott Storch same thing AND is the reason why I started making beats." For the record, Russ is referring to plaques earned for the Boi-1da produced "Best On Earth" and "Civil War," as well as the Scott Storch-laced "The Flute Song" and "Wife You Up."
While Russ' admiration for his collaborators is no secret, it's still cool to see him showing love to Boi-1da and Storch, two veteran hitmakers with no shortage of classic records in their repertoire. Talented though they may be, it's uncommon to see them placed so highly in a given Top 5 list -- perhaps it's time to start giving the storied beatmakers a more thorough examination. Where do they stand in your own ranking of great producers?

Wendy Williams Shuts Down Rumors She’s Dating Jeweler William Selby
Wendy Williams appeared to have chronicled a date night with Big Will on Friday.
Wendy Williams, the talk show host who is often under fire for scandalously discussing the personal affairs of others, had people prying into her dating life this past weekend. Rumors started circulating that she was dating 27-year-old jeweler, William Selby, after a series of Instagram posts she shared on Friday. During Monday’s episode of The Wendy Williams Show, she used her platform to tell her audience and viewers that she is only friends with that man.
Williams spent Friday evening with Selby, who is commonly known as “Big Will” and has designed jewelry pieces for many popular rappers. The photos that Williams shared of her night with Selby were highly-conducive to speculation about possible romance, especially after they also attended a documentary premiere together earlier in the week. In the first post, she bragged that Selby had sent a car for her. The next hint that they were on a date was Williams photographing her fancy plate of meatballs. The icing on the cake was the shot of the two “friends” nuzzled up against one another on a couch. They smiled as their heads leaned together and they each placed a hand on the other’s leg.
Despite all these signs suggesting otherwise, Williams claims she is not dating Big Will. She explained the backstory of the cuddly pic, which supposedly arose because they were visiting Selby’s friend in a frigid recording studio. “I had an interesting weekend,” she said on her show. “It was all innocent to me but apparently it caused waves everywhere else. All I’m doing is being Wendy. So I met this young man that I really like. Not in that way, I was setting you up with dramatic effect, he’s this rapper from Philly. His name is Black Papi. He’s 27. Now, I went to a studio session because he’s working on his album and he’s working on it in New York… I was only at the studio for 35 minutes. I was with my friend, who is also my jeweler, Will. But and whatever, here is the big [scoop]. Will is my friend, he happens to be a jeweler. I’m one of his probably low-paying clients. I’m not buying jewelry all the time.”

She then went on to further detail her and Will’s respective relationship statuses. “Will is involved with his family, he’s got a whole ‘nother life. No, we did not plan to dress alike. A lot of you all said we looked like a couple. No, we’re not a couple. I got on a beige negligee and threw on that [coat]. It was cold out. And then we get in the studio and I put it on my ‘gram. Yeah, we’re huddled like this in the studio because it’s freezing in there. We are not a couple and I do not have a boyfriend,’ she claimed. ‘That’s it. If I did, I wouldn’t have been out with Will.”
Roddy Ricch "The Box" Wins Again With Another Week At #1
Roddy Ricch is spending his seventh week at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Box," beating Drake and Future, Post Malone, and more.
There is nobody stopping Roddy Ricch as the Compton rapper is spending another week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, holding onto his spot while his hit single "The Box" continues to gain in listeners.
This weekend, Kanye West and his Sunday Service collective performed a cover of the country's most popular song, "The Box," and the influence of the track goes beyond that. There are now floor mats being made with "Bitch, don't wear no shoes in my house" on them, and the cut is still performing incredibly on TikTok. Every other video on the social platform is using the song in the background, marking Roddy Ricch's rise from a relatively unknown rapper in the mainstream to becoming top billing at certain festivals a reality. This is going to be Roddy Ricch's year.
At the second spot remains Future and Drake with "Life Is Good," which has gotten the short end of the stick for six consecutive weeks. Post Malone's former chart-topper "Circles" holds still at No. 3 with Tones and I and Dua Lipa rounding out the Top 5.
Congratulations to Roddy Ricch, who has been sitting pretty above all other artists for much of this year. How long do you think this will continue? He is now tied to Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" with seven weeks at No. 1.
