While Reason has proven himself to be one of Top Dawg Entertainment's secret weapons, liable to snap whenever called upon, it would appear he's opted to give his upcoming major-label debut the Joyner Lucas treatment. Which is to say, staggering singles like "Show Stop," "Flick It Up" with Ab-Soul, "Trapped In" with Boogie and Soulo once more, "I Might Not Make It," and "Pop Shit" with ScHoolboy Q. Now, it would appear he's readying another big drop, this time teasing some new music with J.I.D. and Isaiah Rashad.
To be fair, he really only said three words: "Reaz, Zay, JID." But if that's not a tease for an upcoming single, what the hell is? Clearly, the fans want the music at this point, and it doesn't help that both Rashad and J.I.D. have been keeping their respective vaults relatively guarded. When one particularly fiendish follower demanded the single by the end of the day, Reason promised that the wait would not be a long one. While that remains to be seen, the combination of emcees all but guarantees that something glorious will emerge as a result.
True, the wait for Reason's big TDE release has been on the lengthier side, but damned if it hasn't led to some quality drops along the way. Add another one to the pile, and sound off below -- are you excited to see what Reason, J.I.D, and the ever-elusive Isaiah Rashad have cooked up?
Cozz & Reason Have A Joint Project In The Works
Cozz reveals that something special is coming between him and Reason.
Cozz and Reason are no strangers. The pair of rappers are members of two of the most respected rap imprints in the game right now, with Dreamville Records home to the former, and TDE housing the latter. They've collaborated before too, with their stand-out "Lambo Truck" off the Dreamville crew compilation receiving a visual treatment. It appears these two have more music in the works together, though.
Riffing on Twitter, the highly underrated emcee Cozz revealed to fans that he and Reason have a joint album they're working on together. "Man this project between me and reason gon be something special. Just wait on it," Cozz shared. When a salty fan replied with a strategy of his own, Cozz was having none of it.
"Idk...... i feel like yall should take the cole and kendrick route. Just build your greatness to the point where u don't need another artist. I still haven't listened to a full ep/lp by u bro," the user wrote in response. Cozz shot him down: "Doing music w somebody doesn’t mean u need them lol."
Reason, for his part, hasn't made mention of this joint effort just yet, but we'll be keeping tabs. This news, though, does come on the heels of another semi-announcement from the Dreamville/TDE camps-- that the long-awaited J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar joint project may not be entirely dead yet. There's still hope.
Let us know if you're excited for the music. Check out Cozz's tweet below.
Gunna, Sheff G, & More Hold Down Our "Fire Emoji" Playlist
Our “Fire Emoji” playlist was blessed this week with new releases from Gunna, Sheff G, Schoolboy Q, and Reason.
It’s that time of the week again: time to check out the latest additions to our “Fire Emoji” playlist on Spotify. HNHH is always keeping you updated on the hottest hip hop offerings, and there’s no better destination than our “Fire Emoji” playlist. This week wasn’t quite as stacked far as album releases go, but the sparsity only allowed Gunna‘s highly-anticipated Wunna to shine even brighter. The YSL artist blessed us with the new project on Friday, and we’ve decided to highlight the already widely acclaimed body of work by including the title track on our “Fire Emoji” playlist.
Among our batch of new heat is a joint off up-and-coming Brooklyn drill rapper Sheff G’s new project, One and Only, which dropped last week. We’ve also made sure to include fellow TDE artists REASON and Schoolboy Q’s new collaboration, “Pop Shit,” in our selections for the week. Check out our “Fire Emoji” playlist in its entirety below and don’t forget to follow our other specially-curated playlists on Spotify as well.

Reason & ScHoolboy Q Are Dropping A Banger Friday
Reason confirms that he and ScHoolboy Q are dropping off a new banger this Friday, furthering album speculation.
Before the quarantine period kicked off, all signs seemed to point to an imminent album release from TDE's Reason. Alas, the best-laid plans collapsed for every label, including the generally well-oiled machine that is Top Dawg Entertainment. Still, we have seen some activity from the daring lyricist, who most recently turned heads with his provocative and controversial single "Might Not Make It."

It would appear that Reason is once again back on course to release something new, as the rapper has officially confirmed another single will be dropping on Friday. This time, the track is set to feature his labelmate ScHoolboy Q, marking the first collaboration between the two. As Reason tells it, we'd be wise to prepare ourselves for this one. "Me and @ScHoolboyQ got somethin for y’all Friday," he confirms. "Been waiting to put this out."
Given that this would be the fourth Reason single to drop in the past seven months, it stands to reason that his major-label debut will be out by summer. After all, the mighty label has to start somewhere, and who better to set things off that one of the West Coast's sharpest lyricists? Sound off below with your expectations on both the new Reason single and the album as a whole.
Kendrick Lamar pgLang: Not Even TDE’s Reason Knows What It Is
Kendrick Lamar came out of the shadows with a major announcement about pgLang, a new media company he launched with Dave Free.
Apparently, pgLang wasn't a topic of conversation during any meet-ups between TDE rapper Reason and Kendrick Lamar because the 29-year-old California artist has no clue what's going on with his mentor, much like the rest of us.
After clearing out his social media pages, Kendrick Lamar uploaded three images pertaining to the launch of a brand new media company with Dave Free, cryptically sharing the posts and not revealing much else information. As expected, the update brought forth tons of album speculation. pgLang is the name of the company and, according to Reason, not even the other artists working as part of Top Dawg Entertainment are aware of what's happening with the Pulitzer Prize winner.
"Who knows wtf dot doin lol," wrote Reason on Twitter yesterday, echoing a sentiment that many of us were thinking. The reveal of pgLang came from out of nowhere, and it was left very muddy. While it's clear that it encapsulates the latest brainchild of Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free's combined geniuses, the extent of its impact on the music world -- including a potential new album from the world-famous Compton rapper -- is yet to be determined.
If Reason doesn't know what's happening, nobody does. Stay tuned for more information on Kendrick Lamar, pgLang, and everybody else within the TDE camp.
Reason Obliterates Drake & Dreamville Favorites On LA Leakers
Reason drops a freestyle for the LA Leakers and slaughters both “4 PM In Calabasas” and “Down Bad.”
Say what you will about the Los Angeles Leakers, but the men have an appreciation for the time-honored tradition of spitting bars. As such, they know to pay homage when a lyricist in their midst. Once again, TDE‘s Reason stepped into the booth to do as he does, riding the momentum of hard-hitting singles like “Pick It Up” and “Same Ol Shit.” With speculation that an album is on the way, the Carson rapper wasted little time in laying waste to a pair of Drake and Dreamville bangers, “4 PM In Calabasas” and “Down Bad.”
“Every day I’m Charlamagne, Envy face to face with me,” he spits, in the tone-setting first moments. Before long, he’s whipping up some insane new schemes. “My ancestors were slaves too long, they rolling over in graves,” he rhymes. “Be a mobster, you want the pasta, know it come with the strain / lotta n***as namedropping it just come with the game, that’s not a diss but that’s crazy.” From there, his “that’s crazy” scheme mounts in intensity as he snaps at a rabid pace. Before long, the beat simply can’t handle it and switches to some jiggy Dreamville shit.
A veteran of the Dreamers 3 session, Reason sounds at home over “Down Bad,” even borrowing J.I.D’s introductory flow to kick off his verse. While the double-time beat closes the door for some of his denser punchlines, it leaves even more space for Reason to switch it up, a process he does so with practiced swagger. Check out the crazy freestyle below, and sound off – is the TDE rapper the king of the Leakers booth?
Dreamville’s "Revenge Of The Dreamers 3 Deluxe" Gets Release Date
The Ville is back.
Last year, J. Cole and his Dreamville squadron set 2019 off with an ambitious goal: call the banners and craft in album in a two-week time frame. What followed was an instantly legendary recording session, which found rappers from across the country uniting at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta. Everyone from Griselda to DJ Khaled, T.I. to Rick Ross and Wale came through to bear witness. Upon its release in April, Revenge Of The Dreamers 3 proved an instant success, going on to secure a Grammy Award nomination. And yet still, many were quick to lament what was left on the cutting room floor.

Fair, considering the wealth of unreleased bangers previously teased in the official Dreamers 3 documentary. Especially that reflective final track from J.I.D; those who watched the short film already know. Perhaps there's hope for us yet, as the official Deluxe Edition has finally landed a release date -- January 16th, this Thursday. The news was confirmed the Ville's Twitter page, alongside the unveiling of two new tracks: one from Ari Lennox, and one from EarthGang and Reason.
Though details surrounding length and guest appearances remain scarce, we don't exactly have to wait much longer to see for ourselves. Are you still excited for Revenge Of The Dreamers 3 Deluxe?
