I see old friends, my father, my mother, my siblings, my younger self, the great state of Vermont. I want to scream these feelings, to gesticulate wildly at the figures on the other side, but my voice has grown hoarse and muted after years of climbing a ladder towards the wild, spiraling dreams that have materialized in front of me. “Instead, I wrote them down next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, on a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee. The songs are the words I would say if I could. They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve… Read More →

Music venues to get government support in U-turn after backlash to devastating business rates

Live music venues in the UK are now set to get government support, following backlash to plans to introduce devastating business rates. The steep increases in business rates were outlined at the end of 2025, and meant that that live music venues would be facing some of the sharpest rises in business rates in the country – leaving thousands of venues and pubs at risk. Advertisement In response, industry leaders and business owners across the country warned that the consequences seen from the spitalling costs, spearheaded by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, would be dire and lead to widespread venue closures and job losses. Now, the government has today (Tuesday January 27), announced a U-turn on the proposed rates, and admitted that they did not anticipate the severe financial toll it would have on the live music sector. In response to the outcry, the Treasury has confirmed details of a new support package worth nearly £100million for pubs and live music venues across England and Wales. According to the exchequer secretary to the Treasury, Dan Tomlinson, every pub in England and Wales will see their business rates bill decrease by 15 per cent from April 1 – saving an… Read More →

Styles joins the likes of Coldplay, Sam Fender, Katy Perry, Pulp and Mumford & Sons in supporting the levy. The Music Venue Trust celebrated the former One Direction singer’s decision, writing: “He’s the first artist this year to announce a major UK stadium tour with £1 from every ticket going to the LIVE Trust, directly supporting the UK’s grassroots venues.” Recommended “That £1 might feel small. Jack Osbourne speaks out on true amount raised for charity by ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert

Jack Osbourne has spoken out about the amount of charity money raised by Black Sabbath’s ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert. The star-studded show went down at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5 last year, the final show in the career of the metal icons, and one that took on added poignancy when Ozzy Osbourne passed away less than three weeks later. Advertisement In the immediate aftermath of the concert, its musical director, the Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, claimed on Instagram that it had raised “more than $190million”, which was to be split evenly between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice. Ozzy’s widow Sharon, however, quickly moved to distance herself from that number, describing it as “ridiculous”, and asking, “where does this stuff come from?” Now, Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack has also dismissed Morello’s claims in a new interview with the Painful Lessons podcast. “The number was complete bullshit,” he said. [embedded content] “This is how you know the news is probably 90% bullshit, ’cause it was, like, CNN and New York Times was saying ‘Ozzy raised $150 million.’ And it wasn’t that,” he continued. “Because it was a charity gig, you still have to pay for the actual gig.
