Man falls from top tier of stadium during Harry Styles show in Glasgow

A man fell from the top tier of Ibrox Stadium during Harry Styles‘ recent concert in Glasgow. The June 11 show was the first European date of Styles’ world tour, with the man falling onto other patrons during the singer’s encore performance. Per the BBC, he was seen by medical staff following the incident and is believed to have not sustained any serious injuries. More artists including Clairo and Holly Humberstone have had to pull out of this year’s Primavera Sound, with new names added to the line-up. Primavera Sound is being held across two weekends in Barcelona this year, with a number of acts having to pull out due to COVID-related issues. Last week, The Strokes announced they were unable to perform at the festival’s first weekend due to a band member testing positive (Tame Impala then paid tribute at the festival with a ‘Last Nite’ cover), but are still set to appear for weekend two on Friday night (June 10) as it stands. WHO warns festivals could escalate spread of monkeypox

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that festivals and big events could escalate the spread of monkeypox. The disease has today (June 7) been designated a notifiable disease by the UK Health Security Agency, meaning doctors in England will be required to notify their local council or Health Protection Team if they suspect a patient has monkeypox. Cases in the UK rose to over 300 yesterday. In a warning regarding the disease’s spread across Europe and the US, the WHO said large-scale events like festivals could “provide further context where amplification may occur”. The virus is spread via very close, prolonged contact, either through inhaling infected droplets or through direct contact with “infected bodily fluids, lesions or scabs on the skin, or contaminated objects, such as bedding or clothes”.
