Todd Rundgren and King Crimson’s Adrian Belew have shared details of a ‘Celebrating David Bowie‘ tribute tour that’s due to hit North America this autumn. Pixies share short documentary capturing making of new album ‘Doggerel’

Pixies have shared a short documentary with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their new album. Watch the film below. The Grace Jones-curated edition of London’s Meltdown Festival kicks off this Friday (June 10) and – alongside exclusive gigs – features a raft of free public programming. Alec John Such, the original bassist of Bon Jovi, has died, it has been confirmed by the band. The musician, who was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame with his former bandmates in 2018, was 70 years old. No cause of death has been made public at the time of writing. “We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” the band wrote in a statement on social media earlier today (June 5). “He was an original. Dave Smith, the father of MIDI, has died aged 72

Members of The Cure, Bon Iver, Hot Chip and Duran Duran have paid tribute to Dave Smith, the founder of Sequential Synth and MIDI Pioneer, following his death aged 72. A post on the Sequential website confirmed the news. “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Dave Smith has died. We’re heartbroken, but take some small solace in knowing he was on the road doing what he loved best in the company of family, friends, and artists,” said the announcement. Smith, also known as the king of MIDI, invented a range of synths that were used by electronic artists throughout the ‘80s as well as by Radiohead on their experimental ‘Kid A’.
