The announcement comes about a week after SM Entertainment confirmed reports of a Red Velvet comeback. It followed member Joy’s comments on June 3 via fan community app Bubble, where she expressed her concern over the lack of confirmation and promotion about the band’s upcoming music.

‘Cosmic’ will arrive about seven months after their third studio album, ‘Chill Kill’. In a glowing four-star review of the record, NME‘s Tanu I. Raj described it as a “deliciously dark, delightfully macabre” with the group “spinning chilling tales with flawless harmonies at the centre”.

Meanwhile, in March 2024, Red Velvet’s Wendy dropped her sophomore mini-album ‘Wish You Hell’. The project also marked her first solo release since her debut mini-album ‘Like Water’ in 2021.
