Sunday evening, Joaquin Phoenix took home the SAG Award for Best Actor for his role in Joker and as he accepted the prize, the seasoned actor used his platform as an opportunity to honor the other actors hosted in the same category while also paying homage to the Joker before him.
“I’m standing here on the shoulders of my favorite actor, Heath Ledger," he would say to begin his speech.
He went on to highlight the talent of fellow m=nominees such as Leonardo DiCaprio, who was up for his lead role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
"There would always be two other guys that I was up against and we’d always lose to this one kid,” Phoneix reflected. “No actor would ever say his name because it was too much, but every casting director would always whisper, ‘It’s Leonardo' [...] You’ve been an inspiration for over 25 years to me and so many people, Thank you very much."
He moved on by directing his attention to Christian Bale who starred opposite Ledger during his era as Batman. Sunday night, he was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Ford v Ferrari. "You commit to your roles in ways that I can only dream of [...] It’s infuriating. I wish you would, one time, just suck once."
In the end, he would also take the time to congratulate and give proper to relative newcomers found in Adam Driver and Taron Egerton who were both nominated for their roles in Marriage Story and Rocketman, respectively.
"I’ve been watching you the last few years and you’ve been turning in these beautiful, nuanced, incredible, profound performances," he said to Driver. "I’m just so moved by you [...] you should be here.”
He concluded: “Taron [...] you’re so beautiful in this movie and I’m so happy for you, and I can’t wait to see what else you do.”

They are Jack’s smoldering lungs.
Brad Pitt remains one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actors, with films like Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Inglorious Basterds, Fight Club, & Se7en under his belt. Fresh off winning a Golden Globe for best Supporting Actor, Pitt and his Hollywood co-star Leonardo DiCaprio sat down for an informative episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. Though there’s plenty to unpack, one of the highlights arises as Brad Pitt fondly remembers the night that Fight Club premiered, during which he and co-star Edward Norton decided that smoking a joint was the move.

We had the best screening ever,” he laughs. “We go in, and they put you up in the balcony next to the guy who runs the festival. Everyone’s looking at you. It’s very formal. And then the movie starts and the first joke comes up — it’s crickets. Another joke, it’s dead silent. This thing is not translating. The more that happened, the funnier it got to Edward and I.”
We’re the assholes in the back laughing at our own jokes,” he continues. The only ones. And then at some point, it gets to Helena Bonham Carter’s line where she says ‘I haven’t been fucked like that since grade school.’ I watched the festival guy, who’d been squirming the whole 30 minutes, just get up and he leaves. He doesn’t say a word. He just gets up and leaves, which makes us laugh even more. Ah, we had a good time.”

Leonardo DiCaprio Ditches Vacation To Help Rescue Man Who Went Overboard In Caribbean
The man had been treading water for 11 hours.

A 24-year-old Club Med yacht crewman was reportedly intoxicated when he fell overboard near the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Realizing that the crewman was gone, the captain of the ship placed “panicked emergency messages” to any nearby vessels. There was another yacht near St. Barts with at least two guests on board: 45-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio with his 22-year-old model girlfriend, Camila Morrone.
DiCaprio agreed to use his ship to search for the young crewman, and after treading water for 11 hours, the exhausted man was found. By the time DiCaprio and his team came across the man, he’d drifted out about 30 miles away from where he initially went overboard. It’s reported that the unnamed man was close to drowning and severely dehydrated. He thought he was hallucinating when he saw that a movie star was his rescuer.
“Leonardo played a blinding role in his own real-life Hollywood movie,” a source told The Sun. “[DiCaprio’s crew] were the only responders, and his only chance of survival, despite being hours away. The ‘man overboard’ was minutes from drowning when he was found. The captain put the man’s chances of survival at one in a billion – like winning the lottery twice.”
“I should have died,” the man said, according to CBS News.
