It must be annoying to be a celebrity and have strangers rush your car. It must a whole other level of annoying to have these strangers scuff up your clean car with their fingerprints. In that sense, some may be able to sympathize with Lil Yachty's recent plight documented in his IG Story.
The Atlanta rapper was trying to preview an unreleased song of his that features Trippie Redd when young fans popped up at his window. While Lil Boat refused to roll down his window, he ended up bickering with the kids for a bit. One of them appeared to be asking him for money to buy water, which Yachty jokingly gave him a hard time about. After a brief interrogation, Yachty conceded to donate some cash. "I'll support y'all, so next time I see you, I want you to have some water," he said.
However, once he reaches for the money, more nagging youngins start gathering around his luxury vehicle. Yachty puts his foot down. "There's too many of y'all... Hell nah, get your fingers off my Maybach, man," he admonishes. He informs them that he's driving a quarter-million dollar car before driving away from the ambush. Was Yachty too harsh on the kids?
In other news, Lil Yachty, Lil Keed and Lil Gotit are all joining forces to release a collaborative tape on Friday, produced by Zaytoven and titled A-Team.
Meghan Trainor Explains How Nicki Minaj Collab Was Born & Hints At Upcoming Music Video
Meghan and Nicki are joining forces on “Nice To Meet Ya.”
When it was announced on Tuesday that pop singer Meghan Trainer would be dropping a collab with one Ms. Nicki Minaj (or should we say, Mrs. Petty), some were confused. Didn’t Nicki announce her retirement from music this past September, much to the dismay of Barz around the world? While Nicki proved she wasn’t totally out of the game when she joined forces with Latin music star, Karol G in November for “Tusa,” this latest collab, titled “Nice To Meet Ya” begs the question of just how serious she was about that fateful tweet. Meghan Trainor also revealed that she wasn’t quite sure what possessed Nicki to make such a claim, when one of the hosts on The Real, Jeannie Mai, asked Meghan on Thursday’s show just how she “brought Nicki Minaj out of retirement.”
“I think that was just a fun tweet one day,” Meghan confessed. “She definitely—thank God—didn’t retire.” While this is becoming more and more evident, the reason for Nicki’s collab with Meghan’s stems from one specific detail they have in common. “I wrote this song and we knew, ‘Okay, this is the best one. We gotta run with this as a single,” Meghan explained. “And then, my management started managing [Nicki] and I was like, ‘Do you think we could play it for her?’ And then they did and I was like, ‘That’s just a bucket list dream-come-true if she even hears my song. And they said [that] she likes it and she wanted to write a rap to it.” Meghan then imitates crying to show how unreal the moment was for her before another host asks her what her experience was like working with Nicki.

“Unbelievable, unbelievable,” Meghan responds. “We actually shot a music video together and I was freaking out—more nervous than being at the Grammys. This was my moment.” When asked what she learned about Nicki on set, Meghan says, “that she’s funny and really chill and hilarious. I made her laugh and I was like, ‘Oh my god!’ I’m funny.'” Meghan then describes a very heartfelt moment they shared together. “But she’s so real. I wanted to say one thing to her and I was like, ‘You’re an amazing songwriter. Everything you do is amazing but I just want to tell you, from a songwriter to a songwriter, you’re amazing.’ And she high-fived me!” Meghan and Nicki’s track, “Nice To Meet Ya” drops everywhere Friday, along with Meghan’s album, Treat Myself.
Jacquees Is All Smiles Next To Superfan Who Tattooed His Face On Her Back
Jacquees love is real.
Jacquees made it very clear that once 2020 hits he’s back to “remixing everybody songs.” While we assume he’s currently whipping something up to drop soon, the self-proclaimed King of R&B has come through with a pretty impressive show-off for any artist since posting an image of a fan who got his face tattooed on her back. The portrait is accompanied by text that reads “King of R&B” making it clear that Jacquees isn’t the only one who champions his own skills.

“I feel like that solidified me as real R&B artist for the game,” Jacquees previously told Billboard of his 4275 album that dropped in 2018. “When I say for the game, I feel like there’s two levels of the game: there’s the underground and the real side. So I was dropping stuff on the underground and 4275 was my real project on the mainstream. But we grew from there. The fans knew, “Okay, Jacquees bringing this kind of R&B back.”
He added of his R&B title: “I never felt like I OD’ed because I ain’t do shit. All I said was that I’m the king of R&B for my generation.”
50 Cent Says Drake Citing Him As An Influence To Sing Is "The Coolest Sh*t In The World"
50 Cent appreciated the shoutout.
In Drake’s widely discussed Rap Radar interview from December, the rapper touched on many different aspects of his career. Though Drizzy did indicate that his beef with Kanye did not have an end in sight, he also noted Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreaks album as inspiration for Drake to start singing. Another source of motivation for him to pursue singing was “obviously, 50 Cent.”

“’21 Questions’ will probably be my most inspiring example of a guy who’s not supposed to be singing, singing,” Drake said about Fif’s 2003 hit with Nate Dogg. Fresh off receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Fif told Variety that he was overjoyed to hear what Drake had said about him.

“Drake was saying recently that I had influenced him to start singing, which was the coolest sh*t in the world for him to say, because I can’t sing as good as he sings,” he confessed. “I was always just trying to outline the melody. Because once you have a broad enough audience, you’re gonna have people who don’t speak English, so all they can follow is the melody…And when you’re writing [lyrics], I mean: ‘Go shorty, it’s your birthday’ — that’s not rocket science. Every day is somebody’s birthday.” It is indeed, 50.
Eminem Praises 50 Cent At Walk Of Fame Ceremony: "This Guy Is F*cking Relentless"
Eminem says it’s much nicer to be 50 Cent’s friend than his enemy.
Eminem and 50 Cent once formed a one-two punch that dominated hip-hop in the early days of this century. The two would go on to become some of the most legendary figures to ever grace a stage. News broke earlier today that, due to his extraordinary accomplishments in music, television and film, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson would be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. A lifelong dream for many, Jackson’s star will be placed near the corner of Hollywood and Vine, a high-traffic area. The ceremony awarding 50 Cent for his latest achievement is underway and organizers appropriately invited Dr. Dre and Eminem to speak about their bonds with the rapper.
Acting as business partners, Eminem noted that his relationship with 50 Cent goes much further than that. “I just wanna say man, I’m here today because this is not only a business partner to me, it’s one of the best friends I’ve ever known in the world,” said Em about Fif. “I would say that it’s much more fun to be his friend than it is to be his enemy because this guy is fucking relentless. And he won’t stop. And the same way that he’s relentless in his battles, he’s also relentless in his business. He’s an artist, an entrepreneur, an actor, a director, a producer… he can juggle, he’s great at Scrabble. He pretty much does it all. And he’s also helped me through a lot of hard times in my own life and he’s always been there when I needed him. So 50, congrats on your star, man.”
There could not be a candidate more deserving than 50 Cent. Congratulations to the legendary Queens rapper!
Lil Wayne Vows He Will Always Decapitate Drake On A Record
Lil Wayne has a taste for OVO blood.
While funerals are undesirable as a general rule, the gathering hits different when Lil Wayne is handling the eulogy. With his upcoming Funeral album set to drop tonight, many have their sights set on the generational talent. For some, there’s a matter of resetting the course where Carter V slightly veered. For others, it’s Lil Wayne and that’s all that matters. For those seized by rapturous Weezy fever, keep an eye out for Wayne’s first appearance on REVOLT’s Drink Champs, an anticipated episode NORE has already started teasing.

“Even though Drake is your artist, he sends you a record, you still taking his head off?” asks Nore. Completely stonefaced, Wayne nods. “Yeah.” This of course spawns guffaws from the Drink Champs host, while Wayne doesn’t so much as smirk. “All day,” continues Weezy. “I’m letting him know when he send it like, make sure your mom and them don’t be listening to this.” Sadly, the preview ends there — leaving us speculating on whether Drake will indeed be appearing on Funeral tonight. Or more importantly, whether he’ll be leaving with his head intact.
Sometimes, it be your own labelmates. When Tunechi and Drizzy link up, who gets the last laugh by your estimation? In our own poll, fans named Weezy the winner in seven out of eleven tracks, with one being an exact tie. Stay tuned for both Funeral and Wayne’s full Drink Champs episode arriving tonight. Safe to say this will be one to remember.
Lil Wayne Hints That Young Thug Is Featured On "Funeral" Album
We will learn if this is true shortly.
Not many details have been shared about Lil Wayne's new album, Funeral, so we're definitely in for some surprises when the clock strikes midnight. Weezy may have let one of them spill while appearing on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN's popular podcast, Drink Champs, but this news will only peak your anticipation levels even more.
People have been trying to figure out the status of Lil Wayne and Young Thug's relationship for years. When Thugger tried to title one of his project "Carter 6", stealing the theme of Wayne's legendary series, Wayne decided to pursue legal action to stop him. Since this incident, it has remained uncertain whether there is still any animosity between the two. Wayne just confirmed that there isn't on Drink Champs.
"I looked at it as just total respect," Wayne said about album title debacle. "Also there was no dissing on there. [Young Thug] didn't diss me at all, so I looked at it as all respect." He then mentioned how things have been amicable the few times that he's seen "the homie." "Before he say one word to me, he always let me know how much he respect me and how much he is a fan of my shit."
Unprompted, Wayne decided to hint that there may be a Young Thug feature on Funeral. "I don't want to give up too many features, but he might be on there too," he said. We'll know soon whether this is the case. In the meantime, you can check out a preview of one of the songs on the project.
Royce Da 5’9" Flexes Ghostwriting Credits For Diddy & Dr. Dre
Royce Da 5'9" gets nostalgic.
There's a stigma surrounding ghostwriting that has plagued many prominent rappers. Yet those who operate in the spiritual realm often remain unsung heroes. For Royce Da 5'9", who spent time in his early career writing for artists like Diddy and Dr. Dre, the act of ghostwriting proved immensely beneficial to both his career and creative process alike. Now, with his confidence at an all-time high, Royce Da 5'9" has taken an Instagram trip down memory lane to shake one of the stigmas surrounding ghostwriting.
"I wrote this," declares Royce, sharing a stream of Diddy and Christina Aguilera's nostalgic single "Tell Me." "I’m not bragging just not being private tonight. Don’t categorize me, I’m special ... I like to do things just because I’m not supposed to." As of now, the track has amassed over sixteen million streams on YouTube; if you listen back, you can actually hear some Royce-isms in Diddy's flow.
View this post on InstagramRoyce also highlighted another one of his notable writing credits, Dr. Dre's 2001 closer "The Message." Revealing that he was only 19 when he penned the emotional tribute, Royce actually opened up in-depth about his process working for Dre in our exclusive retrospective on the making of 2001: "When I’m laying it, Dre is just staring at me through the glass of the booth. I’m like, he must not like this one. When I’m done doing the verses, he went quiet for a minute. That’s when he told me about his brother.”
Look for Royce to lay waste to the game on February 21st, when he fires off The Allegory for all to hear. Where does he rank among your list of greats?
View this post on InstagramWestside Gunn & Conway Post Up With Tyler The Creator
Griselda meets Odd Future.
Westside Gunn might very well be the most connected man in hip-hop. The Griselda icon has crossed paths with everyone from Jay-Z to J. Cole, Eminem to A$AP Rocky. Despite a relatively brief tenure in the game, Gunn and his rhyming partners Conway The Machine and Benny The Butcher have asserted themselves as cultural innovators. True movers and shakes. It’s no wonder they have become lightning rods for A-list company. Most recently, Gunn and Conway found themselves connecting with recent Grammy winner Tyler, The Creator.
“Fresh from winning that Grammy “Best Rap Album” I hit the homie to congratulate him and he was in the studio making me a beat,” writes Gunn, alongside the stacked picture. “Nothing but respect for The Homie @feliciathegoat he came and fucked wit me and got some of these “Pray for Paris” vibes this is what the culture looks like.”
We can only hope that Westside produced by Tyler ultimately manifests into a reality, as it’s always nice to see the Odd Future pioneer reconnecting with his grimier musical roots. Check out the picture below, and show some love to two of the game’s influential figures. Both men came through and started movements that went on to impact the game in major ways. Much respect!
Lil Baby Reveals Release Date For Sophomore Album, "My Turn"
February is about Lil Baby.
While Lil Baby's sophomore album, My Turn, has experienced a few delays, we were never left in desperate need of new music from him for long. Lil Baby is extremely prolific, popping up as a feature on everyone else's songs when he's not dropping his own singles. The two most recent singles we've received from the Atlanta rapper are "Woah" and "Sum 2 Prove". Based on how hard they're hitting, Lil Baby is living up to the mission statement he set for his forthcoming project. "I called it My Turn 'cause I feel like everybody else had a lil' turn," he said on IG Live a few months back. "It's my turn now. Everybody dropped their mixtapes, their albums - go number 1, number 2, number 3."
We already knew that My Turn was coming in February, but Lil Baby just specified its exact release date: February 28. The album will be released through Quality Control Music and Motown Records. Lil Baby also revealed My Turn's lovely cover art at the beginning of this month, which you can see below. With all the pieces now in place, there's nothing left for us to do but wait.
This week, Lil Baby shared the music video for his song, "Catch The Sun", which appeared on the Queen & Slim soundtrack.
