Watch Dave Mustaine kick security guards out of Megadeth gig: “I hate bullies”

Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine kicked several security guards out of the band’s gig in Illinois earlier this week for harassing a fan. Mustaine had to directly address the security guards towards the end of the band’s set, as they were playing ‘Symphony Of Destruction’. He even went as far to stop the song, shouting at security: “Dudes, don’t be fucking hitting people. That is totally uncool. Hey, fuckin’ stop hitting that guy.” Mustaine then ran over to where the incident was taking place to more directly scold the security guards and said he would refuse to play any further until the guards had been ejected. Graham Coxon says Blur tried to “kill any stink of Britpop” on self-titled album

Graham Coxon has recalled Blur‘s effort to distance themselves from the sound of Britpop on their 1997 self-titled album. The band’s fifth album, featuring singles including as ‘Song 2’ and ‘Beetlebum’, was characterised by its aggression and heightened emotion in comparison to their previous work. Coxon was the main member of the band pushing for a stylistic change and detailed in a new interview with Mojo how he tried to make that happen. Advertisement “I decided to write a letter to Damon because I wasn’t confident enough to broach conversations about my needs. It was something like: ‘I’d like to start scaring people again, because at the start, we were into unease, songs like ‘Oily Water’ and ‘Resigned’. Let’s make a bloody row, and have fun’,” he recalled. “I didn’t get much of a reaction, but Damon did give me the steering wheel a little more. I think he was sympathetic, and keen, for everyone to express themselves, and for me to have moments to mess around with noise. I wanted to see what the guitar could do without much intervention from me. “But Damon knows that when it comes to enveloping his voice in something beautiful, I can do… Read More →

Martin Scorsese on why he takes issue with the label “indie film”

Martin Scorsese has explained why he doesn’t like the label “indie film”. The director, who on Wednesday (September 27) was promoting the release of his new movie Killers Of The Flower Moon at its New York City premiere, said in an interview that the term is unhelpful because it “pigeonholes” people’s work. “The thing about it is, it would be great to see not only blockbusters on a big screen, franchises on a big screen, but also what they consider now ‘indie films’. I don’t like that title,” Scorsese told IndieWire. Advertisement “I think that categorises, pigeonholes. I think they’re films for everyone, and I would love to see a support from theatres, particularly, which would make it possible for people to want to come to a theatre to see a film that isn’t necessarily a blockbuster that needs a giant screen.” Martin Scorsese. CREDIT: James Devaney/GC Images He continued: “I’m glad that it’s on a giant screen, but otherwise the theatres will only become for films that are action films. That’s all I’m concerned about.” The screenwriter and director, who has helmed award-winning films including Taxi Driver (1976), Goodfellas and The Irishman (2019), has been vocal about his worries… Read More →

A film about the Titan submersible tragedy is already in the works

The OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy is set to be the subject of a fictional film. E Brian Dobbins, who worked on the 2002 black comedy slasher The Blackening, has signed on to produce alongside MindRiot Entertainment, which has also greenlit a docuseries based on the former OceanGate mission director Kyle Bingham. According to The Guardian, its current working title is Salvaged. Advertisement In June, a tourist submarine named Titan made headlines when it went missing in the North Atlantic on an expedition to the Titanic shipwreck. At some point on its journey, it suffered a “catastrophic implosion” killing all five people on board, including Stockton Rush, the submersible’s pilot and the chief executive officer of OceanGate. The vessel was missing for four days before debris was discovered and the five passengers were confirmed dead. “The Titan Tragedy is yet another example of a misinformed and quick-to-pounce system, in this case, our nonstop, 24-7 media cycle that convicts and ruins the lives of so many people without any due process,” MindRiot co-founder Jonathan Keasey said in a statement via Deadline. “Our film will not only honour all those involved in the submersible tragedy, and their families, but the feature will serve as a… Read More →

Paramore cuts ex-members out of group photo for ‘Brand New Eyes’ anniversary

Paramore celebrated the 14th anniversary of their third album ‘Brand New Eyes’ this week, but two former members of the band were cropped out of a photo of them from the time of its release. “HBD, BNE,” the group wrote via X, formerly known as Twitter, but the accompanying photo featured only vocalist Hayley Williams, drummer Zac Farro and guitarist Taylor York. Guitarist Josh Farro and bassist Jeremy Davis also played on the band’s 2009 album, and it was the last to feature the Farro brothers before they left the band under rather acrimonious circumstances in 2010. In a blog post at the time, Josh said that the rest of the band was treated differently than Williams and were “riding on the coattails of ‘Hayley’s dream.’” Advertisement Farro said back in 2016 that he and the band were back on speaking terms but ruled out ever making a return. However, in 2020, Williams affirmed Paramore’s pro-LGBTQ+ stance after a comment made by Farro in which homosexuality is called “a perversion” began circulating on social media. “There’s a reason there are only 3 people left in Paramore. Surprise, haters, it ain’t cause of me,” Williams wrote. Zac Farro later rejoined Paramore in 2017…. Read More →

Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and Lou Reed had to convince Damien Hirst not to chop off his hands for an art project

Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart has revealed he and Lou Reed once had to convince Damien Hirst not to chop off his hands for an art project. ‘Little Britain’ is being reassessed as “cringe” online: “It made me so uncomfortable”

Comedy fans reassessing Little Britain online have deemed the sketch show, starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams, to be “cringey”. READ MORE: Computer says go! Times haven’t changed, ‘Little Britain’ was offensive trash from the start A discussion around the show kicked off after Reddit user ARedemptionSong asked people to assess its controversial sketches through a modern lens, particuarly in the age of cancel culture. “Most of the sketches I think were fairly hit and miss, but Lou and Andy was absolutely profound,” they began.
